Kevin Feige Explains Why It Took So Long for Ryan Gosling to Join the MCU as GHOST RIDER

While speaking with CinemaBlend at San Diego Comic-Con, Feige was asked why it took more than 10 years for the actor to become part of Marvel's ever-growing roster. Feige explained: “I mean, he was he was busy continuing to do great, banger after banger. And we knew we wanted- if he wanted to do it, we wanted to do it with him. “And it wasn't until not that long ago that he came in with this pitch, with this vision and with Shawn [Levy], and we said, 'Let's go for it. Now's the time.'“ Gosling has stayed incredibly busy, jumping from one major project to the next. Over the past few years alone, he's starred in Barbie , The Fall Guy , and Project Hail Mary , while also gearing up for the upcoming Star Wars film Starfighter , which is also being directed by Shawn Levy. That connection clearly played a role in getting the project moving. Levy recently delivered Marvel's massive hit Deadpool & Wolverine , and it sounds like his creative partnership with Gosling helped make this the right moment to finally bring the actor into the MCU. Feige added: “Because he wants to do it, and he's ready and wants to make this next movie.” Sometimes that's all it takes. The right actor, the right filmmaker, and the right idea coming together at the right time. The announcement has already sparked plenty of excitement across the fan community. Gosling has shown throughout his career that he can effortlessly bounce between action, comedy, drama, and larger-than-life blockbusters, making him an intriguing choice to play Marvel's fiery antihero. It'll be exciting to see how he and Levy put their own stamp on the supernatural character when Ghost Rider finally roars onto the big screen. The character certainly comes with expectations.
