Letter to the editor: Strengthening our fragile democracy

As I celebrated the meaning of this year’s Fourth of July, and its milestone, I reminded myself our democracy is just as fragile today as it was 250 years ago. At the beginning of this great nation, the people of the day were flexing their belief that, “All men were created equal,” and wanted to separate themselves from a monarchy. We all know that happened.
